Nashville-based singer-songwriter A M A R I S released her debut song “Lemon, Lime & Bitters” on April 14, 2023.
The track was written by Amaris and produced by Alfredo Gonzalez.
She wrote the song during the pandemic when she was a senior at Cornell and she and her husband, who's from New Zealand, were in the midst of the immigration process. She would drink lemon, lime, and bitters, her husband's favorite drink and a popular cocktail in New Zealand, when she really missed him.
But the song also takes on another meaning of grief and loss, that she lost her baby and five family.
Amaris said of the song,“'Lemon, Lime & Bitters' is a great example of how a song can gain power and further its meaning with time. I wrote it in November 2020. Back then, it was about me imagining a life without my husband by my side. Now, it's about grief, loss and the will to overcome.”- Photo by Gibel Amador
