  • UPSAHL Releases New EP “Sagittarius”: Streaming

  • American alt-pop singer-songwriter Taylor Cameron Upsahl, aka UPSAHL released her third EP “Sagittarius” on December 9, 2022 via Arista Records.

It is her first project since the 2021 debut album “Lady Jesus”.
The EP comprises 5-track, produced by Captain Cuts, Evan Blair, Pete Nappi and UPSAHL.
Also Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo co-wrote “Toast”.
UPSAHL said of the EP, “If somebody asked me to explain myself at my core as a human being, I would tell them to listen to Sagittarius. This is the first time in my life where I dove fully into myself throughout the writing process, and the songs definitely reflect that self discovery. Each song represents a different part of me that makes me who I am… I crave change, I live for intensity, I'm extremely passionate (sometimes to a fault), I exert power in as many aspects of my life as I can, and I'm unbothered as fuck.”
  • She continued, “This EP is about owning all parts of myself, even the not so great ones. I think no matter who you are (or what sign you are), there's a piece of everyone in these songs. Sagittarius is about letting go of all the outside bullshit and amplifying the simplest parts of who you are. It feels really good to own that. When people listen to this EP, I hope they feel inspired to own every aspect of themselves and scream about it at the top of their lungs, because that's what I got to do while writing these songs.”

UPSAHL explained track-by-track for the EP.

    “Kickflip”
“The day I wrote Kickflip, I was nearing the end of the writing process for the EP, and I realized that I had covered so many pieces of myself, but was missing the part of me that is unbothered as fuck. Kickflip pinpoints that part of the night where you are feeling on top of the world. You feel hot, you want to stir the pot up a bit, you want to entertain, be entertained, be spontaneous, and you feel like nothing in the world can get you out of that mood. I don't even know how to do a “kick flip,” but that's the unbothered energy I wanted to harness!”

    “Into My Body
“I wrote Into My Body at the beginning of the summer after getting back from almost 6 months of touring. For the first time in a while, I wasn't surrounded by chaos and constant brain stimulation, so I was kind of left to me and my own thoughts. I got stuck in my head and was completely disconnected from reality. I'm an intense person, so this feeling got very extreme. I wanted to write a song about how I was having an out of body experience, but it became a song about getting back into my body. It's also definitely, maybe a masturbation anthem lol”

  • “Skin Crawl
“Skin Crawl is about taking your power back. It's about when you get caught up in the stress of life and realize that it's sometimes okay to want to feel nothing or in this case, wanting to just feel without overthinking. I want people to let go of that mundane feeling and find power in its simplest form. It's also about rolling, and that magnetic energy you get, so take what you will from that :)”

    “Antsy
“Antsy is a song for anyone who feels like they want to make a change in their life, but don't know how to. It's that moment when you realize you've had enough of whatever bad shit has been going on and you need to switch it up and start fresh. It could literally be anything from relationships to health to the internet to school to work, etc. Whatever it is that makes you antsy, we've all been there.”

    “Toast
“I realized how passionate i am while writing toast. being such a fiery person, its second nature to dive into things head first, and even when I try not to, that's what my heart and mind always do. Toast is me leaning into that passion and accepting it. Sometimes when things are coming to an end, whether it's relationships or periods of our lives, we prolong the inevitable and avoid that ending at all costs in order to protect our feelings. Writing this song felt very reflective and almost empowering in a way.”
