Maggie Rogers Releases New Song “Horses”
American singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers will release her upcoming second studio album “Surrender” on July 29, 2022.
From the album, she unveiled the third single called “Horses” on July 14, 2022, following “That's Where I Am” and “Want Want”.
The track was written and produced by Maggie Rogers with production by Kid Harpoon.
She wrote the song all in one day and recorded it at Real World studios along with two previous singles.
“I've never had a day in my life where I have written two songs at once. And I certainly have never had a day where I've written three,” Maggie Rogers said of the song on Apple Music 1. “Started out the day with 'That's Where I Am,' came back after lunch and wrote, 'I've Got a Friend.' Came back after dinner and wrote 'Horses.' And 'Horses' is a one take vocal… And so is 'I've Got a Friend,' but 'Horses' specifically, I was so… I started writing the song and I was like, 'Ugh, I don't want to do it.' And Tom [Hull, aka producer Kid Harpoon] was like, 'Finish it.' And I was like, 'No, I want to go to bed.' He was like, 'Finish it.' And I finished it and he was like, 'Okay, one vocal.' And I was like, 'Could you just do it in the morning?' He was just like, 'No, do it.' And then that's it.”- She shared, “it was the end of the night and the song is rly one of the most raw and emotional things i've ever written. i didn't want to spend too much time inside the song. So the vocal is just one take. did one take and then went to bed. woke up in the morning and realized it was done. i play guitar. tom plays bass. came together really quickly. hope you love it as much as i do. its a really sacred one to me.”
