5 Seconds of Summer Releases New Song “BLENDER”
Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer released a new song “BLENDER” on July 13, 2022.
The song is the fourth single off of their upcoming fifth studio album “5SOS5”, following “Me, Myself, and I”, “Complete Mess” and “Take My Hand”.
It was written by Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, Peter Thomas and Jake Torrey. Produced by Peter Thomas and Jake Torrey.
The song is the first release after drummer Ashton Irwin suffered loss of vision and “symptoms of stroke” while on stage on their Texas show.
Ashton Irwin shared on social media, “I suffered from an intense migraine brought on by exhaustion and overheating onstage which made me loose my vision and gave me symptoms of stroke in the left side of my body. So the decision was to end the show there and then.”
He added, “It's always amazing to play a massive energetic show in every environment thrown at us. Unfortunately this time my body gave out due to heat exhaustion. I was in tears in the ambulance, because I feel I've let many people down. I'm looking after myself and getting rest now. I feel so loved and looked after by my brothers and team and all of you. this is the price a dehydrated drummer pays when he takes on Texas heat.”- The new album is set to be released on September 23, 2022 and is the first LP under their new label BMG Rights Management.
The band frontman Luke Hemmings said of the album in an interview with Apple Music, “The album is definitely very introespective. I think, like a lot of people in the last couple years, the only way to look was inward — For us, anyway. Lyrically looking into everything that's ever happened to us has been a big sort of topic, and not doing this everyday and being on the road was kind of a different experience for us. For me, the whole album is the most introespective and the most lyrically beautiful [one that we've made so far]. There's just so much heart in it.” - source : Apple Music
