  • ZELA Releases New Song “Chaos Queen”

  • Newcastle-based brat-pop siblings duo ZELA, consisting of Liv Griff (vocals) and Max Griff (drums), has released a new song “Chaos Queen”.

The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
It was written by Liv Griff and Max Griff.
The track is Liv's hard-hitting, vinyl-coated refusal to commit to any kind of romance beyond the chaos-fuelled antics that she enjoys so much.
ZELA told NE VOLUME about the song, “On this one, I feel like, musically, we've had quite a few variations. But lyrically, it's always been pretty clear in both the message and the idea. It's a pretty short, concise song and straight to the point. We branded ourselves as Brat-Pop so we wanted this to be a hard-hitting, in your face, bold, and an unapologetic little piece of pop. So yeah, we made it super, super bratty. We've turned up all the elements that make us us. We spoke about being kind of punky with the approach. I guess, even though it's pop, and it's bratty pop, we just wanted it to be really in your face. So yeah, we've worked on it to get it to that point. I'm so excited to get it out now. I'm like a can of shaken Fanta: I'm ready for it – I'm just fizzing.”
The song will appear on their upcoming debut EP, which is expected to be released in October, 2022.
