English-Swedish singer-songwriter Mabel and American rapper 24kGoldn teamed up again to release a new song “Overthinking”.
This marks the second time Mabel and 24kGoldn have worked together following Clean Bandit's 2020 song "Tick Tock".
The song was written by Mabel McVey, M.S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen, Jocelyn Donald and 24kGoldn. Produced by StarGate.
The accompanying music video was directed by Charlie Sarsfield.
Mabel said of the song, “I wrote the song about a time when I felt I couldn't escape my thoughts and emotions. When I think of that time of my life the word that comes to mind in FEAR. When I was most successful in my career for a long time I neglected myself as a person. I was self medicating and when I wasn't working I was partying... All of that because I was so scared of the silence and so fearful that if I took a minute to just be, I would see what I'd became and know that I wasn't being true to myself. Silence can be deafening but in a quiet moment about two years ago I found myself again. I did 365 days completely sober, I've done 2 years of intense therapy, with the help of medical professionals I have been on an anti depressant that works for me and I also know how to ask for help now. Not every day is easy but I'm finally in a place where I'm ok with that and when I'm not running from the hard moments. I know that I will probably always battle with may darkness and my chaos but I choose to not let it define me. Love is strong than fear, so I choose to love myself and all that I am.
