Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd released his fourth studio album “After Hours” on March 20th.
The project is his first studio album to have no featured artists and is his first LP since 2016's “Starboy”,
The album comprises of 14-track (Deluxe version 19-track) including preceding three singles "Heartless", "Blinding Lights", and "In Your Eyes".
The first single "Blinding Lights" was featured in Mercedes-Benz television commercial.
The Weeknd said of the album, “You can find love, fear, friends, enemies, violence, dancing, sex, demons, angels, loneliness, and togetherness all in the After Hours of the night.”
The album title is inspired from 1985's film of the same name directed by Martin Scorsese, who is Abel’s idol.
Also, The Weeknd announced that the album is dedicated to long time fan and host of the popular XO Podcast, Lance, who died on March 19th. He tweeted, "RIP LANCE aka XOPODCAST. you were one of the true original backbones of my XO fan base. Can’t believe i’m finding out about this today. I’m dedicating After Hours to you, my friend."
The Weeknd will embark on The After Hours Tour in North America, Europe and the UK. The tour kicks off at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on June 11th.
