London-based synthpop trio Years & Years has released a new song “All For You” from their upcoming sophomore album "Palo Santo".
The song received its first play during Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
The band worked with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin for the song. It was written by Olly Alexander, Greg Kurstin and Mark Ralph.
The name of the album is inspired by fictional world behind it. The band has stuck to its devotion to spiritual iconography and became fascinated with religious imagery.
Frontman Olly Alexander told Zane Lowe about the album;
"I was so yearning to be a part of something.I think that's why, obviously, religion is really powerful. All the ritualism and symbolism and I'm just really drawn by all of that stuff. And also kind of how like obviously traditionally, the church has like very much shut out gay people, I’m kind of subverting that a little bit.
It feels like really good for me to be able to use my voice, use the platform that I have to speak on the things I care about,” he said. “It feels actually very meaningful"- JhBUbeBU4cw
