Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Global Citizen Festival Hamburg: Coldplay, Shakira, Ellie Goulding, Pharrell Williams Performances
Global Citizen Festival 2017 was held at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg on the eve of the G20 Hamburg summit on July 6.
The concert featured Coldplay, Shakira, Ellie Goulding, Pharrell Williams, Demi Lovato and more. Also, appearances of politicians during the concert included Justin Trudeau, Erna Solberg, Mauricio Macri and Sigmar Gabriel.
The event was broadcast live on the Youtube Channel of the Global Citizen Festival presented by eBay Kleinanzeigen.
Especilay, Shakira performed along with Coldplay as guest, who played Coldplay hits "Yellow," "A Sky Full of Stars" and her songs "Chantaje," "Me Enamoré".
Frontman of the band, Chris Martin told the crowd;
"In the spirit of Global Citizen – which is about bringing everybody together, sometimes bringing people who shouldn't really fit together together – now we're gonna try something musical which could be a disaster or could be amazing."
Shakira said:
"By 2030, 800 million – that's half of the young people of the world – will drop out of school, or lack even the necessary skill for employment. That's more than half of the next generation, and we can't afford that."
This November, Coldplay, Jay Z and Demi Lovato will take part in the first Global Citizen Festival in India.
