Santana Releases New Song “Move” featuring Rob Thomas & American Authors
American rock band Santana and singer-songwriter Rob Thomas have reunited to release a new song “Move” for the first time in 22 years.
The duo released “Smooth” in 1999, which reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and won three Grammy Awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
This time, New York City-based rock band American Authors joined in the song.
The song is the first single of Santana's forthcoming album “Blessings And Miracles”.
“'Move' came about was very much like how 'Smooth' happened. It was like divine intelligence behind the scenes. I just knew I had to record it with Rob,” Carlos Santana said in a statement. “The song is about awakening your molecules. Ignite and activate yourself – you know, move. The new album is set to be released on October 15, 2021 via BMG. The album features appearances from Metallica's Kirk Hammett, Chris Stapleton, Rick Rubin, Diane Warren, Steve Winwood, Corey Glover, Ally Brooke, Narada Michael Walden and the late Chick Corea.
Santana signed to BMG this year. The new album is the first record under the new label.
