Kelly Clarkson Performs Reba McEntire's “Fancy” at Kennedy Center Honors
The 41st annual Kennedy Center Honors national celebration of the arts took place December 2, hosted by 2017 honoree Gloria Estefan. Besides Reba, other artists to receive the honor this year included Cher, pianist Philip Glass and jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter. The ceremony was broadcasted via CBS on December 26, 2018.
American singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson paid tribute to one of the honorees, Reba McEntire and performed Reba McEntire's smash hit “Fancy” on the stage.
"Thank you so much, Reba for listening to me vent as an artist," Kelly Clarkson said to Reba McEntire, who also happens to be her mother-in-law. McEntire's stepson Brandon Blackstock is married to Kelly Clarkson. "Thank you so much for comforting me on the phone through my tears like a friend and thank you for being a really rad grandma for my kids."
The original version of “Fancy” was released by Bobbie Gentry in 1969. Reba McEntire covered the song on her fifteenth studio album "Rumor Has It" in 1990. Her version surpassed the original on the country music charts.- source : Billboard
