Robyn Premieres New Song “Honey” on BBC Radio 1
- Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn premiered a new song “Honey” on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1.
The song will appear on her upcoming eighth studio album of the same title, which is set to be released on October 26, 2018.
It was written by Markus Jägerstedt, Klas Åhlund and Robyn. She has already filmed a music video for it in London, which will be premiered shortly.
Originally, the track was featured in the final season of the HBO series "Girls" in 2017. This time, she re-recorded the song as a new version.
The album comprises of 9-track including the lead single "Missing U" and features collaborations with Joseph Mount of Metronomy, Klas Åhlund, Adam Bainbridge, Mr. Tophat, and Zhala.
The album is available to pre-order here.
“It’s not produced or written as a normal pop song,” she told The New York Times in an interview. “It is totally based on this idea of club music. When you’re listening to club music, there’s no reward. The reward isn’t, ‘Oh, here’s the chorus, here’s the lyric that makes sense.’ You have to enjoy what it is. You have to enjoy that there’s no conclusion.”
“Club music taught me so much about myself,” she added. “Having patience, or appreciating a different type of way of taking in life. That to me is like, what ‘Off the Wall’ is. Or ‘I Feel Love’ or ‘Rock Your Baby’ with George McCrae. It’s a hypnotic thing. Time stops, and I don’t even think about where I am when I hear music like that. That’s the high that I want. That’s what I need.”
