American singer-songwriter and record producer Finneas O'Connell, aka FINNEAS released his long-awaited debut album “Optimist” along with a new music video for “Love is Pain” on October 15, 2021.
The album comprises 13-track, written and produced by FINNEAS. The accompanying music video was directed by Sam Bennett.
The album offers a deep dive into the world of FINNEAS as a songwriter and producer for himself and expresses his stories of inspiration from both personal experience and general observations.
“As a producer-artist, you never give yourself enough time to work on your own music,” FINNEAS explained. “Unfortunately, nobody is going to boss me around and tell me to produce my own album except me.”
He continued, “I've always been interested in people and their idiosyncrasies. It's hard for me not to focus on them or notice. At the end of the day, I'm just observant.”
He told Apple Music about his work, “The biggest challenge in making an album for myself is having to actually always look inward and be like, 'Is this how I want it to sound?' I'm not trying to please anybody with it except myself. I think, sometimes, when stuff is finished and sits on a shelf for a while, you look up at it and you're like, 'I don't know how well that's aging.' When I listen, I'm like, 'Oh yeah, this is how I was feeling and this is how I've felt my whole life about certain things.' I think this album is honest enough that it doesn't really matter how it ages because it's how I feel.”- source : Apple Music
