Beyoncé Premieres New Song “Black Parade”
- American singer-songwriter Beyoncé released a surprise new song “Black Parade” on Juneteenth (June 19th), hours after announcing a new initiative to support black-owned businesses.
The track includes powerful lyrics about black history, police brutality and the George Floyd protests.
“Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power,” Beyoncé wrote on Instagram. “Being Black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right.”
It was written by Blu June, Brittany Coney, Worldwide Fresh, Derek Dixie, Kaydence, Caso, JAY-Z and Beyoncé.
She launched Black Parade Route, an online directory of black-owned businesses selling everything from fashion and beauty products to home furnishings and coffee.
According to the site, the proceeds of “BLACK PARADE” will go to the BeyGOOD Black Business Impact Fund, which "support[s] Black-owned small businesses in need."
