  • Arms & Hearts Releases New Song “Apologists”

  • Back in June, Manchester-based pop-punk duo Arms & Hearts, consisting of Steve Millar (vocals/guitar) and Sam Johnson (Drums), was back for the first time in four years.

The band announced that their upcoming sophomore album “The Future Is Not Bright” will be released on October 10, 2024.
The album comprises a 12-track, written by Steven Millar and Kate Doyle, produced by Sam Cook.
From the album, the duo released a new song “Apologists” on September 5, 2024.
The song is the third single off of the album, following “Binaries” and Bottom Line”.

The band lead singer Steve Millar said of the song, “Writing 'Apologists' was a form of catharsis. Born out of rage towards someone I used to know, it started as a very personal song, and in many ways it still is. Ultimately it's about needing to hold people, particularly those you're closest to, to account for their actions - especially when they've hurt people.”
  • The new album is their first body of work in four years since the 2020 debut album “The Distance Between”.

Steve Millar said of the album, “Over 3 years, I wrote a collection of songs that I didn't think would ever see the light of day - a complete change from the Folk-Punk beginning that was Arms & Hearts. One day I realised that I truly believed in a lot of these songs. I then spent a year in the studio with the incredible Sam Cook making this record, crafting each song, there was no 'this take will do' or 'this is as good as it's going to get'. We did not compromise and we did not stop until we were sure it was done. Creating this record almost broke me, but I am so happy and proud of what we made.”

He added, “I wrote this album about trying to find optimism in a cultural climate that demands cynicism and misery. Something that I believe grows more important every day.”
