  • Jean Dawson Premieres New Song “New Age Crisis” on BBC Radio 1

  • Mexican-American singer-songwriter Jean Dawson premiered a new song “New Age Crisis” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

The song will appear on his upcoming album “Boohoo”, which is set to be released on March 7, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Jean Dawson, with production by Hoskins, Vic Wainstein, Biako, Johnny May, and The Flints.
Jean Dawson told Clara Amfo about lyrics, “When I wrote it, I felt really really pretty. Pretty in the studio, I just have my nails done. When you look in the mirror, you start to see stuff and then you start to see more stuff. And that little voice in your head that's like strictly only mean to you comes out and you start to see all this stuff. And I begin to practice this idea of like, well, it's not necessarily an affirmation and I have nothing against affirmations. But I'm going to really truly mean what I'm going to say to myself. And I started looking at my eyes under my eyes are like pretty black because I've gotten a lot of flights. My skin tone is not even because I don't wear skin sunscreen like I should. And I looked at myself and I'm like, You know what I feel like I'm gorgeous. And the next line being trying to find a beauty and pain. Looking at myself, for the flesh of flesh that I am.”
  • The new album is his first body of work in two years since the 2022 album “Chaos Now”.
He said of the album, ”We have 'Boohoo'. It's a... oh my god I don't like going into the nitty of it but the title and in of itself is not everybody's healing. I'm healing I'm healing. This is me being healed. And I love telling people like nun heal. I did all the work. It's all good. Like I'm definitely haven't done all the work that we like them myself. But in a way where I'm like, You know what? The victim I don't want to be a victim of my life, a victim of my own circumstance, a victim of anybody's expectations a victim of my own perception. So it's like, what do you actually have to cry about? And that doesn't mean that you can't cry about anything, but it means you can cry about everything. So that's why it's called Boohoo.”
