METTE & Sam Gellaitry Premiere New Song “DARLING DRIVE” on BBC Radio 1
Los Angeles-based dancer and singer-songwriter METTE teamed up with Scottish DJ Sam Gellaitry to premiere a new song “DARLING DRIVE” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The track was written by Ines Dunn, Mette Towley, and Sam Gellaitry who also produced it.
This marks the first time METTE and Sam Gellaitry have worked together.
METTE told Clara Amfo about the song, “I went up to Scotland and I met Sam and he showed me around his hometown and rented this crazy house. And we had all the walls almost breaking in that old house.”
Sam Gellaitry added, “We set up a studio setup and the drawing room of this house. I remember it very well. The first track we tried to make as well, but we can't stop with it for a bit. And then I think we both realized it was time to put it out because I was on tour in America. And I'd played the song in Toronto and I seen people in the crowd singing the lyrics of the song and obviously we hadn't dropped yet. And that's never happened to me in my life. And I was just like, oh my gosh, so I had met up and then met to your experience was similar, right? Like two days after some?”- METTE continued, “I was actually on my way to Vegas to see Usher. And I came back. But what happened was I was on the flight and this kid like tapped me on the shoulder and he's like, 'Are you METTE?' and I said, 'Yes'. Oh my gosh, that song was Sam Gellaitry, 'DARLING DRIVE', where is it coming out? And it was literally within days that Sam will be connected, like, the next day or something and it was like, seems like yeah, I've been experiencing people like loving the song and being eager for it. And I was like, 'You know what, let's do it'. So I gave that kid a private listen on the plane. He listened to it like 20 times. So it was cool.”

She added, “And the cool thing about this song too, is like, it's pretty crazy. I feel like there hasn't been like a duet and this is even like, lovers and friends, a duet that really encapsulates like the pure emotion and synergy when like two people who really see each other for who they are come together and that's what 'DARLING DRIVE' is. So I'm so excited to like, share this record with Sam and obviously his production, vocal and talent is undeniable.
