British singer-songwriter Ben Howard released a new song “Life In The Time” on June 7, 2023.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming fifth studio album “Is It?”, which is set to be released on June 16, 2023.
The track was written by Ben Howard and Mickey Smith. Produced by Nathan Jenkins.
Ben Howard said of the song, “‘Life In The Time’ is about the settling of disputes, friends buried in the hillside and drifting apart.”
The new album comprises 10-track, produced by Nathan Jenkins.
It is his first album in two years since the 2021 album Collections from “the Whiteout”.
He recorded the album over a 10 day period at Le Manoir de Léon recording studio in south-west France.
“We went in and put down ten songs in ten days, then spent the rest of the year tinkering with them,” Ben Howard said of the album. “We worked through the heatwave, the air conditioning broke, after what had happened I was so tired in the afternoons that I slept a lot. We just played solidly and slept, there was no time for retrospection.”- Befor recoding the album, Ben Howard suffered two TIAs (transient ischemic attacks - known as mini-strokes).
He described that this experience was affected making the album. “It was out of the blue. It was a confusing time. I found it impossible not to dwell on the absurdity of it, that with one tiny clot, one can lose all faculties. It really ate into the writing of the record,” he said.
He continued, “Just to be playing music in the studio felt like a real privilege and a luxury. It was probably the best studio session we’ve ever had.” -
