Nothing But Thieves Performs “Welcome to the DCC” & Miley Cyrus' “Flowers” on triple j's Like A Version
British rock band Nothing But Thieves, consisting of Conor Mason (vocals/guitars), Joe Langridge-Brown (guitar), Dominic Craik (guitar/keyboard), Philip Blake (bass) and James Price (drums), appeared on triple j's Like A Version to perform “Welcome to the DCC” and a cover of Miley Cyrus' “Flowers”.
This marks the second performance on triple j since their appearance in 2018.
“Welcome to the DCC” was released from their upcoming fourth studio album “Dead Club City” back in March.
It was written by Julian Emery, Jim Irvin, Joseph Langridge-Brown, Conor Mason, and Dominic Craik. Produced by Jonathan Gilmore.
The band said of the song in an interview on BBC Radio 1, “For us, this song is a little bit more uncomfortable we wrote it. The first bit like out of our comfort zone, but I think the more we lived with it, the more we fell in love with it.”
The new album is se to be released in June 30, 2023. It is their first body of work in three years since the 2020 album “Moral Panic”.
“Flowers” was released by American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus as the lead single from her eighth studio album “Endless Summer Vacation” back in January.
The song reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles chart, and in 35 countries.
The band guitarist Dom Craik said of the cover version, "It has a hypnotic nature to it. So when you start, you don't really want it to stop. I didn't really want it to end, to be honest. Not many people can sing like that. But you know it's her and I think that's always something you look for in a vocal. You can hear 30 seconds of it, 10 seconds of it, and you know it's her. Because the song functions so well in its own right it just means that you can kind of keep rhythm backbone the same."
