Jake Huffman Releases New EP “Younger”
American singer-songwriter Jake Huffman released a new EP “Younger” on May 19, 2023.
The EP is his first project in a year since the 2022 EP “Adderall & Whisky”.
The EP comprises 4-track, written and produced by Jake Huffman.
Jake Huffman said of the EP, “The lead up to this release has been one of the wildest experiences of my life.”
Also, he told The Phoenix Remix about the EP, “This EP is really my best work to date. I believe in the songwriting, I’m confident in the production and most of all I can hear “my” sound. And isn’t finding your sound the whole point?”
He explained about some tracks for the EP.
“Martyr”
“The lyrics aren't about what I personally believe. Everywhere I look people are spouting their beliefs while contradicting themselves in the same breath. The world has become so polarizing and I wanted this song to encapsulate that energy. This song has been 2 years in the making, it's the most 'me' song out there and a total ear worm.”- “Babe”
“Something about the bass lines and the hard hitting syncopation really hit the spot. I wanted to capture that vibe and put my own spin on the genre. What's cool and different about this track is how haunted and dark it feels. I think I captured an 80s sci-fi horror mixed into a twisted fantasy like day dream. I didn't want to cloud the energy of the song by over-thinking the lyrics or trying to insert deeper meaning into the song. It's my opinion that some surface level situations end up more significant overtime. The song was created by chasing that feeling, what's interesting is even now when I listen back I find more nuance than I originally intended.”
“Bodytalk”
“The main monster wubby subby sound is actually a cello that I manipulated with a few different filters and ran through the Soundtoys decapitator. I've been writing and working on these songs for a few years now and this is the one I find myself listening to the most. It also SLAAAPS live!” - source : Apple Music
