Kygo Releases New Remix of Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson's “Say Say Say”
Norwegian DJ Kygo released a new remix of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's “Say Say Say” on March 31, 2023.
In the past, Kygo has released a remake of American singer Whitney Houston's “Higher Love”.
This time, he remade “Say Say Say”, as with “Higher Love”.
The original version of the song was released by British singer-songwriter Paul McCartney and American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson as the lead single from Paul McCartney's fourth solo studio album “Pipes of Peace” in 1983.
The song reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the UK Singles chart.
The track was written by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. The remix version was produced by Kygo.
Kygo told Zane Lowe of Apple Music, “I guess what I usually do is take out most of the original production, and I start to put down some simple chords over the vocal, and I just play around with it from there. And then, I obviously want to keep some of the original production, so I try to take it in step by step.”
- He continued, “So, let's say I have the chorus, I bring back some of the original synths, if there's a guitar… I feel like, definitely, if you're going to do a remix, you definitely got to do a different version. So, I feel like it's easy to get locked in the same lane if you keep all the original production. So, I feel like it's easier for me, if I want to have some freedom and experiment, it's easier to take out the original production and just play around with it, and record whatever feels natural, and then bring back in some of the original elements that makes the song so great in the first place.”
