Florence + The Machine Covers No Doubt's “Just A Girl” from The Original Series “Yellowjackets”
British alt-rock band Florence + The Machine released a cover of American rock band No Doubt's “Just A Girl” on March 9, 2023.
The song is featured in a new trailer for the second season of Showtime's hit series “Yellowjackets”.
The original version of the song was released by No Doubt from their third studio album “Tragic Kingdom” in 1985.
The track was written by Gwen Stefani and Tom Dumont. The cover version was produced by Florence Welch and Mark Bowen of IDLES
Florence Welch said of the song in a statement, “I'm such a huge fan of Yellowjackets and this era of music, and this song especially had a huge impact on me growing up, so I was thrilled to be asked to interpret it in a 'deeply unsettling' way for the show. We tried to really add some horror elements to this iconic song to fit the tone of the show. And as someone who's first musical love was pop punk and Gwen Stefani it was a dream job.”- 9R3YWb1Cw5E

“Yellowjackets” is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The film stars an ensemble cast led by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton as a group of teenagers involved in a plane crash in 1996, with Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell portraying their adult counterparts.
The second season will premiere on March 24, 2023.-
