  • Kali Uchis Premieres New Song “Deserve Me” featuring Summer Walker on BBC Radio 1

  • Colombian-American singer-songwriter Kali Uchis premiered a new song “Deserve Me” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

The song is featured on her third studio album “Red Moon in Venus”, which was released on March 3, 2023 via Geffen Records and EMI Records.
On the track, she teamed up with American R&B singer Summer Walker.
It was written by Karly-Marina Loaiza, James Colwell, Chris LaRocca, Nija Charles, Taylor Parks, Ebony Oshunrinde, Summer Walker, and Aaron Cheung.
Produced by WondaGurl, Aaron Paris, LaRocca, and WahWah James.
Kali Uchis told Clara Amfo about the song, “I think that's kind of how most of my songs are they just sound most of my songs sound really soft. But this was actually the oldest song that I wrote this song back in late 2019, during the time working on my last album. So it was cool to see her (Summer Walker) put her own spin on it and then me like put my finishing touches on it after having had it for so long.”
She continued, “I love her, I love her music. I love everything that she's got going on. I love that she's herself. She's not afraid to be herself. So I definitely felt like this record was right for her. I was excited to make something together for sure. And hopefully it makes something else in the future.”

The new album comprises 15-track, featuring guest appearances from Omar Apollo, Don Toliver, and Summer Walker.
It is her first album in three yeas since the 2020 album “Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios)”.
She made the second album in Spanish, but the new album was created in English.
Kali Uchis told Clara Amfo of BBC Radio 1, “I mean for me, it's been some music in Spanish and English and I do like my first album was English. My second album was Spanish. This one my third album is in English. My next one is going to be in Spanish and it's also coming this year. So it's like I almost feel like I have to work like two times harder than someone who just makes you know music and one language. It also allows me to be really free creatively because basically like when I was working on my last album Sin Miedo, if I happen to make music in English, I would just set it aside for this project.”

  • “Love is the message,” Kali Uchis said of the album in a statement. “Red Moon In Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus. The moon and Venus work together to make key aspects of love and domestic life work well. This body of work represents all levels of love – releasing people with love, drawing love into your life and self-love. It's believed by many astrologers that the blood moon can send your emotions into a spin, and that's what I felt represented this body of work best.”
