Sissoko Segal Parisien Peirani Announces Debut Album “Les Égarés”, Shares Two New Songs “Ta Nyé” & “Banja”
Mali kora player Ballaké Sissoko, French cellist Vincent Segal, French saxophone player Émile Parisien, and French jazz accordionist Vincent Peirani formed a new new quartet, Sissoko Segal Parisien Peirani.
The project will release their debut album “Les Égarés” on March 31, 2023 via No Format!.
From the album, the quartet released two new songs “Ta Nyé”, and “Banja” along with a music video on February 3, 2023.
“Les Égarés” is neither jazz, nor trad, nor chamber, nor avant-garde, and is a record without solo voice, drums or percussion that never stops enabling a very delicate pulse to be heard.
Initially, four artists intended to record the album in Mari. But the extreme tension that currently holds sway in Mali scuppered this and, in the end, the four musicians set up their creative workshop in the alpine town of Gap.
“I’ve never recorded an album in such an atmosphere,” Vincent Peirani said. “None of us were ‘performing’, so much so that the music communicates a lot without ever having to 'tell' it. None of us possessed the truth beforehand: all we did is find it together.”
