  • The Wombats Premieres New Song “Dressed To Kill” on BBC Radio 1

  • British alt-pop band The Wombats, consisting of Matthew Murphy (vocals/guitar), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass), and Dan Haggis (drums), premiered a new song “Dressed To Kill” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

The song is included on their new EP “Is This What It Feels Like to Feel Like This?”.
It was written by Matthew Murphy and Gabriel Edward Simon. Produced by Mark Crew and Gabe Simon.
The accompanying video was directed by Johnny Chew.
Matthew Murphy told Clara Amfo, “We've got a new song. It's called 'Dressed To Kill'. It's from our new EP is called 'Is This What It Feels Like to Feel Like This?' which is out of midnight? This is kind of a field good, fun song. Maybe something like that. I'm not selling it very well am I.”
  • The EP comprises 6-track, produced by Mark Crew and Gabe Simon.
The band recorded 18 songs for their fifth studio album “Fix Yourself, Not the World”, which was released back in January. But finally the album featured 12 songs.
“We recorded seventeen or eighteen songs for the albums and some of them were strong songs that didn’t end up on it,” Matthew Murphy told Rolling Stone UK about the EP. “We wanted to release them and for them to become their own body of work. For me, it’s like if you’ve got a handful of strong songs that you’re confident in and love, you should just get them out there.”

  • Matthew Murphy explained some tracks for the EP.

“I Think My Mind Has Made Its Mind Up”
“It’s a glitchy ode to the 90’s, innocence and escapism.”

“Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This?”
“It’s a walking the dog scenario and I went past this battered apartment complex. I can’t remember whether there was shady shit happening or whether I made it up. But all of a sudden, I’ve come up with this story where I’ve turned up at this hotel and caught my partner in a very compromising situation. All of a sudden, the twist is that according to my past, it should be me in that situation. That’s what the title and song is about. It’s walking in on a moody hotel and that situation.”

    “Demon”
“There’s a song on there called ‘Demon’, which is a lot more slow and there wasn’t space on the album for a song like that, in terms of what we were trying to do. We wanted to keep it pretty concise.”
