Lizzy McAlpine Releases New Album “five seconds flat”: Streaming
American singer-songwriter Lizzy McAlpine released her sophomore album “five seconds flat” on April 8, 2022.
Before the released of the album, Lizzy McAlpine said, “I want to give my fans something different with each record, because I'm different with each record.”
The album comprises 14-track, featuring guest appearances from Jacob Collier, Ben Kessler, Laura Elliot, and FINNEAS. Produced by Ben Kessler, Ehren Ebbage, Philip Etherington and Ryan Lerman.
Also, Jacob Collier appeared on a music video for “all my ghosts” as a cameo.
Lizzy McAlpine said, “this album is so special to me. i really put a lot of work into making sure that the track list was in the right order and the story that it told was cohesive so i would urge you to listen through the first time in order.”
She told EUPHORIA. Magazine why she named album title “five seconds flat”, “There's a lyric in the last song on the record, 'orange show speedway' that goes, 'when you're racing headfirst towards something that'll kill you in five seconds flat / when I'm racing headfirst towards something that I want back.' That lyric really sums up the entire theme of the album and the short film. It just means that even though falling in love is terrifying and I've gotten my heart broken in the past, I still want it back because it's beautiful.”
Also she released a short film along with the album, which was written by Lizzy McAlpine and directed by Gus Black.
She shared on social media, “we made a short film!!!!!!! i wrote the beginnings of this concept on march 23rd 2021 and now just over a year later it's out in the world. i had so many pinterest boards & google slides & documents full of writing about how this all should come together. i took that to Gus Black and he embraced it from the very beginning. i am so grateful to have met such a talented human and thankful that you trusted me and my vision. we did it !!!!!”
