Niomí Releases New EP “Pain Relief”: Streaming
- Back in June, London-based Irish-Pakistani singer-songwriter Niomí released her debut EP “Susurrus”.
Only five months later, following the debut EP, she released the second EP “Pain Relief” on November 19, 2021.
The EP comprises 3-track. She recorded the tracks before the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. At the beginning of 2021, she pieced everything from the recording back together.
“These three songs have been a labour of love and I'm almost reluctant to put them out into the world after nurturing them for so long!” Niomí shared on social media. “Underlying the writing of these songs and actually since my teenage years is a chronic pain condition. I was diagnosed with endometriosis a few years ago after about 11 years of symptoms and deal with physical pain daily. Often, when going through difficult times with my personal relationships/work and music my pain got worse. I find this link between body and mind really interesting. Most of my songs are, at their core, about pain in the form of heartbreak and finding some relief from it. I hope that by sharing these painful experiences that others can also find some comfort and relief with whatever they might be dealing with ❤️🩹”
She explained of some tracks for the EP.
“Never That Easy”
“This song is about being in a relationship with someone who is pulling away from you. It's when you really care for someone and you're giving 100% to try and make things right but it's not working. There's nothing specific that's been said but it's that gut instinct you have that someone is distancing themselves and you can feel that the relationship is going to end and the fear of being left behind.”
“I had a long-term relationship which was abusive. I couldn't be myself and the beginning of this track reflects the subtle changes that started around that time. I stopped writing songs, and was questioning myself. The chorus acknowledges the person that was there trying to just be but couldn't whilst I was with them.”
