Valley Premieres New Music Video for “Closer To The Picture”
Earlier this month, Toronto-based alt-pop band Valley released a new song “Closer To The Picture” for the first time in two years.
The band dropped a new music video for the song on August 29th, directed by Mark Smith and Jordan Davies.
The song is their first single under Universal Music Canada, who signed with the band last year. The single will appear on their forthcoming sophomore album. A release date hasn't been announced yet.
The band told Directlyrics about the video in an interview;
"We are super stoked to get it out. We actually worked on the treatment alongside some of our best friends who we’ve worked with before on our Slacks video. We wanted to make the video fairly quirky and explore lots of different personality traits that would exist at a party. From the extra terrestrial to the token drunk to the chatterbox. We presented all these characters through the lens that we often experience in real life when we have to socially float through parties, trying to find the dog haha
The Closer to the Picture video is also interconnected with other videos but can’t talk about that just yet!!"- The Directors Mark Smith and Jordan Davies said of the video;
"The concept that the band had created was putting the audience in the shoes of the introvert of the party. Basically, the kind of person who hangs out in the corner with the dog while others are getting drunk and making fools of themselves. Many of our visual references came from films set in the early 2000’s like Perks of Being a Wallflower, Lady Bird and The Rules of Attraction."
Valley is composed of Mike Brandolino (Guitar), Rob Laska (Vocals), Karah James (Drums) and Alex DiMauro (Bass).
The band released a debut EP “Car Test” in 2015. The debut album "This Room Is White" was released in 2016.
After the debut album, Valley signed to Universal Music Canada in 2017. - source : Directlyrics
