Tube Singer Charlotte Awbery Performs “Shallow” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show
The British singer Charlotte Awbery who went viral after singing Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's “Shallow” in a London tube station has become a global sensation.
She went from 4,000 followers to over 400,000 followers on Instagram. Her viral video even helped push the Oscar-winning “Star Is Born” tune back onto the iTunes charts.
Then, she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform “Shallow”.
“I was literally on my way to meet my friend ... I’m absolutely overwhelmed by all of this,” Charlotte Awbery said. She explained that she’s a full-time performer who, for the last 15 years, has mostly sung at weddings, pubs, and restaurants. When Ellen mentioned that Awbery’s video has been watched over 60 million times, the singer was awestruck. She added, “My dad’s always said to me: ‘Wherever you are, always sing… Never give up.’ He’s right.”
Ellen DeGeneres ended the interview by giving her a year-long pass for the London Tube and £10,000 in cash.
