- Ava Max said of the song, “I’ve gotten so many personal stories for “so am I.” It’s really touched my heart because it just reminded me of being a teenager and in middle school, and being bullied. I was kicked out of school in seventh grade because I stood up to a bully. So, I definitely can relate to that feeling. I got a message saying that she had scars on her face, this one girl, and she said that my song made her love herself again. I literally got so teary-eyed because I feel like if I’m doing one job that’s the number one job that I should ever be doing- make people feel good about themselves. I feel like, again, I’m down on myself a lot, everybody is; it’s a normal thing. But, as long, as you can learn and grow from it and become better and stronger, that’s all that matters. I think that’s the whole reason I make music. Aside from wanting to be on stage and performing cause that’s my passion, the second passion, the first passion really, overall, now that I’m getting all these responses is really to heal with your words and lyrics. Lyrics go a long way, people feel these things. I remember growing up and feeling lyrics, and it changed my life. For me to have a song that has such a deep message, it really makes me feel really great to know that I’m spreading a positive message, that’s super important to me."
