Phantom Planet Returns With New Song “Balisong” From Upcoming Reunion Album
Los Angeles-based rock band Phantom Planet is back. The band released their first song “Balisong” in 11 years on May 7, 2019.
The track is the lead single off their upcoming fifth studio album, which is 50 to 75 percent finished, according to vocals and rhythm guitar Alex Greenwald.
He said, “We feel like we’re returning home. The boys in Phantom Planet are my brothers, and we figured it was time for a full-fledged family reunion.”
The band has worked with a producer Tony Berg on the new album. “Tony has always been a big proponent of my song-writing and he’s probably one of the only people whose opinion I trust. Every Phantom Planet record has been an experiment. I’m sure this one will be no different,” Alex Greenwald said.
The new sing is inspired by an obsession with the butterfly knife. He explained, "It's something that is really easily concealed but with the right know-how can be easily pulled out and is sharp as hell," he explains. "I just went down the rabbit hole with that and the band loved the song and it was one of the first ones we did."- source : Billboard
