Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ GIRLI Releases New Song “Dysmorphia”
London-based singer-songwriter Milly Toomey, aka GIRLI released a new song “Dysmorphia” along with a music video.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming EP “Damsel In Distress”, following “More Than a Friend” released in back in May.
It was written by GIRLI, Gavin Jones, Johannes Willinder and Robin Padam. The video was co-directed by Roisino and Madeineden.
GIRLI shared on social media, “I wrote this song about my own struggles with body dysmorphia. It’s basically me trying to explain how it feels to have a warped vision of myself to someone who doesn’t understand. In the chorus I sing “don’t tell me to love myself more, i wish that it was that simple”. There’s so much misconception & misunderstanding about body dysmorphia and eating disorders, and a lot of the time people think they can advise you on how to get away from the incessant self-hating thoughts when they have no idea what you’re going through in your head.”- She continued, “This video is about me and the monster who lives inside my brain, who takes all the self-hating messages i see on social media, in magazines, on the TV, and constantly reminds me that i'm not good enough. On bad days, looking in the mirror sucks me into the monster's world where I can't get away from these thoughts, and that's what I wanted to show in this video. The new EP follows up “Ex Talk”, which was released back in May, and is expected to be released in September 2021. - source : Spotify
