Sam Drysdale Returns With New Song “Love & Violence”
Canadian singer-songwriter Sam Drysdale returned with a new song “Love & Violence” on October 27, 2023.
The song is his first music since the EP “Testarossa”, which was released in January 2022.
The track was written by Sam Drysdale, Ally Sou, Marty Martino, and VERSKOTZI. Produced by VERSKOTZI.
The accompanying music video was directed by The.97.
Sam Drysdale said of the song, “'Love & Violence' encapsulates the entire soundscape of the record I have on the way. It's an atmospheric, moody introduction to the relationship that this next project is about and feels like a fitting first page of the new chapter.”
He continued, “At its foundation, my single is about a romantic relationship where both parties have become more concerned with their own individual perspectives, opposed to the pursuit of a more wholesome definition of love.”- He added, “One of the first and last instruments in 'Love & Violence' is akin to a boat's fog horn, painting the picture of a ship navigating difficult waters. A metaphor for walking the fine line between selfishness and selflessness in a relationship.”
He said of the song title, “The title illustrates the closeness of two words that would otherwise be thought as opposites. True actions of Love almost always revolve around empathy and sacrifice, whereas most actions of Violence are rooted in apathy and ego.” -
