Summerdrive Releases New Song “Shimmer”
New York-based alt-rock band Summerdrive, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Jake Stam, Matt Montgomery and Tim Coakley, released the second single of 2023 called “Shimmer” on July 14, 2023.
The band is formerly known as Friends At The Falls. The single is the first release under the name Summerdrive.
The band shared on social media, “We’ve been working on this new music behind the scenes for a while now, it feels great to finally be able to put it out. This is our first release under the name Summerdrive.”
The track and produced by Andrew Maury, Jake Stam, and Timothy Coakley.
“The overarching idea of the song is chasing a feeling that has faded, whether you like it or not,” the band said of the song in a statement. “Visiting the places that you’ve been with someone, whether it be a friend or partner, and those places not holding the same meaning as they once did. Ultimately realizing that sometimes it’s out of our control how these things end up.”
- Summerdrive made their debut in 2018 with their first EP “Wild In Our Ways”. Their sophomore project “Be The Change” was released in 2021 and catapulted the band to new heights with over 4 million cumulative streams.
Influenced by their time in New York and Los Angeles, as well as contemporary acts like The Killers, The 1975, Coldplay, and Walk The Moon, the band have found a way to cultivate a sound that’s both nostalgic and timeless.
