STONE Premieres New Song “I Gotta Feeling” on BBC Radio 1
Liverpool-based rock band STONE, consisting of Finley Power (vocals/guitar), Sarah Surrage (bass), Elliot Gill (lead guitar) and Alex Smith (drums), premiered a new song “I Gotta Feeling” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
The song is the third single of 2023, following “I Let Go” and “Left Right Forward”.
The track was written by Finley Power and Kieran Shudall. Produced by Rich Costey.
The band frontman Finley Power told Clara Amfo about the song, “I went to the Grand National just happened in Liverpool. And me and my housemates Alex, the drummer Alex, sighs to go out .And really just I have a look, and I remember walked in to the boozer in town and just this guy was staring me out really really hard, and he just had like even his mates who were wearing like Peaky Blinders hot suits, he's just lost probably about two grand on the races.”- He continued, “So I was like this is quite funny. So I got me notes up house and just started typing. And honestly like most of the song just came out there just like loads the lyrics of what I was seeing what was going on and how seemed violent that night and I was just an observer. The new drink was just there to like take it in and make some lyrics but it ended up like eventually I put them all together and got this chorus and just came off pretty funny guys.”
He added, “I didn't want to be so mean. So in the end the conduct like near the end of the song I was like, look fellas, I've been there, you know? Like, you know sometimes, you're like your brain takeover but it's like my skin or as a lyric and I love it. And it's like in geezers need excitement, it says leave the forces. And it's like, you don't need to get overdramatic when you when you've had a few pints.” - source : BBC Radio 1
