Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Ada Marques released her second single called “napkin” on July 20, 2022, following the debut song “bell”.
The track, written as a letter to herself, scribbled onto a napkin by the cynical side of her personality, takes a candid look at the seclusion, sadness, and self-hate we buried underneath our surface and mask from our peers.
Recorded during an impromptu writing session between Ada Marques and producer Chris Reynolds, held during an out-of-the-ordinary Los Angeles rainstorm, the song mirrors the melancholy atmosphere of the unexpected weather sonically.
Ada Marques shared on social media, “I wrote 'napkin' on a whim during a rare rainy day. It's a letter to myself, a very cynical portrayal of who I am and how I see the world during my worst days. I wanted it to feel very strange but also soft in a way. Chris Reynolds created the most perfect unsettling atmosphere.”- Photo by Delila Rio
