  • RAYE Premieres New Song “Hard Out Here” on BBC Radio 1

  • British singer-songwriter Rachel Keen, aka RAYE premiered a new song “Hard Out Here” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.

Back in July, she left Polydor Records and started as an independent artist. Because the label has been withholding her debut album for several years.
The song is the first single Rachel Keen wrote after parting ways with Polydor Records. Also, the song will appear on her upcoming debut album.
She worked with producer Mike Sabath on the track. It was written by Rachel Keen, Mike Sabath, Justin Tranter and Brandon Colbein.
Rachel Keen told Clara Amfo about the song, “'Hard Out Here', I wrote a week after I went on Twitter. The Beat existed actually the original back and check the job that the beat was from a song that I wrote from when I was 19. So I took this beat and basically was like, get rid of the top line, I'm going to just flow on how I'm feeling right now. I'm not gonna lie I was in a state.”
  • She continued, “I set up a microphone in my living room. My engineer was from LA, have my headphones on tears pouring out my eyes, and I just bent it, which is why I felt like it needed to be the first song that I came back with because as you hear from some of the lyrics and they're like, it's angry and it's me reminded myself. I didn't deserve to be treated the way that I was treated at the worst of times, and I bounced back and I'm coming with that fight again.”
She added, “I've taken a year out. It's been a wild roller coaster over time. This is part of what being an artist is and and some of the artists that have inspired me most have been through hell also. And it's part of my story, and it's what makes me, I'm a tough cookie, but I was really broken at one point I'm not gonna lie.”
