Miranda Lambert Releases New Album “Palomino”: Streaming
American country music singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert released her ninth studio album “Palomino” on April 29, 2022.
The album comprises 15-track, including a cover of Mick Jagger's “Wandering Spirit”, and features guest appearance from The B-52's. Produced by Jon Randall, Luke Dick and Miranda Lambert.
She began writing the songs on her farm in Tennessee in 2020 and co-wrote 14 of the 15 tracks with Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby.
The album is a travel-themed and has a road-trippy vibe.
Miranda Lambert said of the alabum in a statemarn, “The making of this record has been one of the most fun and creative experiences of my career. Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby, and I went out to my farm in Tennessee in 2020 and started writing songs. Our trio is such an organic friendship that has turned out some of my favorite songs I've ever been a part of writing, so we figured, while we have time, let's get out to the country and see what happens. The first one we wrote was 'Tourist' and that set us on a path to create something with a bit of a theme. Since we couldn't travel at the time, we decided to go on a journey through songs. That's where the whole idea was born Palomino. We met at the farm several more times to keep working on this project and as the songs were coming to life, I was thinking about how this should come together sonically. Luke is a genius when it comes to melodies, lyrics and vibes so we were already in a great space.”- H6PiibzHWIY
She continued, “I went on the road trip to Marfa, Texas with Jon Randall and played him a couple of songs, shared some ideas and asked if he would jump on board with Like and me as a producer and he said yes! This team of two of my best pals really brought the visions of the album to life along with engineer Jason Lehning. And of course, the other writers on the project: Aaron Raitiere, Mikey Reaves, Jesse Frasure, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram. We also recorded a cover of Mick Jagger's 'Wandering Spirit' which I wasn't covered I could do at first, but Luke and Jon talked me into it and it's one of my favorites on the record now! Getting to work with great friends to create something you love and are so proud of is the best feeling in the world. I hope y'all are ready to travel with us wandering spirits and meet some cool characters with great stories.”
She shared on social media, “You'll visit 36 different places as you travel through this record. You'll meet tons of characters like Katie with a K and the trucker Dwayne. You'll get acquainted with old friends, like Geraldene and visit places we've already been together like Waxahachie. Enjoy the trip y'all.”-
Miranda Lambert explained of some tracks for the album.
“Geraldene”
“She's everyone. I feel like we've all known one or been one at one point or the other. I just had that title because I was watching Heartworn Highways like a million times, and in that movie, Townes' dog is named Geraldine. And Geraldine's this German shepherd, and I was like, 'That's a cool name.'”
“Country Money”
“Aaron Raitiere pulls me in on a write one day. He's like, 'Hey, come write with me and Mikey Reaves.' I had never written with him before, and I was like, 'Okay, cool, that'd be different,' and we wrote 'Country Money.' It fit right into the vibe of this road trip we were taking. So it all just happened easily, which makes me a little nervous because I'm like, 'Okay, when's the other shoe going to drop?'”
“Carousel”
“That is a real feeling. We joined the circus in one way or another, and we're so lucky to be part of it. I mean, I'm like, 'If I ever lived before, I think I was either best friends with Calamity Jane or riding an elephant somewhere.' Truly, that's what I was doing, because this is as close as I could get to those two things, what I do for a living. I miss so many weddings and funerals and baby showers and important moments of people that are important to me, and of my own, just because I'm rolling. But I think 'Carousel' puts this romantic spin on it where it's like, 'It's okay. There's this whole other life that can happen, too.'”
“Strange”
“The song 'Strange' came together in a really cool organic way. Natalie Hemby and Luke Dick and I were out writing at my farm and Natalie had this really cool idea and melody and just the song title 'Strange.' We were talking about all the strangeness going on in the world at the time.”
“If I Was a Cowboy”
“I wrote this song with my new friend, Jesse Frasure. We met doing the remix of 'Tequila Does' and he and I just got together one afternoon for a write and this is what came out of it. It's funny, he's a Detroit boy and I'm an East Texan, but somehow we wrote a song about the Wild West together.”
“Actin' Up”
“I struggle because I have to sing 'Kerosene,' 'Mama's Broken Heart,' and 'Little Red Wagon' forever, and what's that going to look like at 70? Those are songs that set up that whole side of my career. My grandma was a firecracker until her last breath, drinking Crown and Coke. If she can do it, I've just got to figure out a way to do it artistically. 'Actin' Up' and 'Geraldene' are both songs where there's fire, but I'm not burning down the house.” - source : Apple Music
