Holly Humberstone Premieres New Song “London Is Lonely” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriters Holly Humberstone premiered a new song “London Is Lonely” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Jack Saunders.
It was written by Holly Humberstone and produced by Rob Milton.
Holly Humberstone told Jack Saunders about the song, “I wrote this song actually a little while ago. It was a song that came about when I first saw I was living in London, and it was my first time moving away from home and kind of being independent and I didn't notice it very well. And I just moved in. Kind of on my own. I didn't have any friends. I just found it really isolating and really alienating. And I feel like London is the busiest place on earth and there's so many people, but it can be really just isolating and lonely. And then I had all of these kind of thoughts. And then I got home because of COVID. And I went back up to my parents house when I sat there and kind of the piano that I used to write on as a kid. It just kind of came it came into itself this song really weird there and it's funny, like so much time has passed. And I've been sitting here for a little while now. I feel like the same and I feel like so many people, especially with COVID and everything, maybe will be able to relate to this song somehow because, it's such a weird place, especially in kind of a pandemic. And everything else that's live in the world right now. I feel like it's it was definitely time to put it out and it still resonates with me and I still feel it's a real thing for me at the moment as well. So, I'm happy to be sharing it.”
The song will appear on her upcoming debut album, which is expected to be released later this year.
She said, “I think that it just kind of made sense to put it out now because it's you know, it's it's like winter everyone's you know, depressed like seasons are fast. I just feel like it's it felt right. And like I wrote it kind of about this time of year.”- tQOK6-fKYGE
