Chloe Lilac Releases New Mixtape “when i feel better”: Streaming
- Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Chloe Lilac released a new mixtape “when i feel better” along with a new music video for “sick” on December 3, 2021.
The mixtape comprises 4-track, including the previous tracks and a new song “sick”.
It is her first project since the 2020 EP “DOUCHEBAG”.
Through the uncertainty that shadowed much of 2020/21, Chloe Lilac tapped into her DIY roots to self-direct and self-shoot two official videos in her Brooklyn home while in quarantine and has also asserted herself a strong activist for social causes.
Chloe Lilac said of the mixtape, “when i feel better is a collection of songs I wrote in quarantine, hoping that I'd release them when the world was in a better place. I can't say that the world is in a better place now, but it felt right to put these out.”
The music video for “sick” was directed by Ragan Henderson.
- Chloe Lilac explained track-by-track for the mixtape.
"i wrote 10 things about a bad friend i had throughout my life, and finally realizing it wasn't healthy for me to keep them around anymore. it can be so frustrating when a close friend prioritizes a relationship above your friendship. best friend breakups are one of the most painful things you can go through, especially when you feel let down by someone you trust so much."
“I wrote 'sick' about dating someone who will do anything to get what they want. Whenever I re-listen to it I think of the phrase 'hurt people hurt people.' Being with someone like that can make you as sick as they are.”
“I wrote 19 about how scary everything's gotten in the last two years. I really sat and thought about the state of the world and how weird and out of control everything's become since the pandemic. I want to stress how grateful I am for my physical health and my family's health, I've been very blessed throughout the pandemic thus far. There's just so much loss that's been happening and still happening. It's really intense, especially being witness to all the tragedy at what seems like the beginning of my adult life.”
