Laurel Releases Debut Album “DOGVIOLET”: Stream
London based alt-pop singer-songwriter Laurel Arnell-Cullen, aka Laurel released her debut album “DOGVIOLET” via Counter Records on August 24, 2018.
The album comprises of 12-track including the previously released singles "Lovesick", "Crave", "Same Mistakes" and "Adored".
“DOGVIOLET” follows up the third EP "Park", which was released in 2016.
Back in July, she first performed "Same Mistakes", "Lovesick", "Life Worth Living" and "Crave" from the album on BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session for Huw Stephens.
The album features personal lyrics and stirring melodies. She wrote and recorded each track at her home studio in East London.
Then, she fed back the songs through a reel-to-reel tape recorder at Gizzard Studios. That is giving a warm analogue tone throughout the album.
All songs are featuring tight and warm guitar sometimes like Jazz and R&B, as well as her emotive vocals.
She said of the album;
"I wrote these songs at home often locking myself away for periods of time in order to capture the true mania that comes from love; although a beautiful feeling, it can often feel a lot uglier."-
She signed to Turn First Artists in 2013 and released the debut EP "To The Hills" in 2014. Followed by, the second EP "Holy Water" was released.
In 2016, she signed to Counter Records, a division of Ninja Tune Records and released the third EP "Park".
LAUREL will embark on the UK and 33 date European tour in support of the album this fall. The tour kicks off at The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on September 20th and will conclude at Siroco in Madrid on November 2nd.
