DJ Cassidy Teams Up With Shaggy & Rayvon for New Song “If You Like Pina Coladas”
American producer DJ Cassidy teamed up with Jamaican reggae rapper Shaggy and Barbadian singer-songwriter Rayvon to release a new song “If You Like Pina Coladas” on June 30, 2023.
This marks the first collaboration since DJ Cassidy performed with " 2001 smash hit "Angel” with Shaggy and Rayvon on his television series “Pass The Mic” in 2022.
The track was written by DJ Cassidy, iLL Wayno, Shaggy and Rayvon. Produced by DJ Cassidy, iLL Wayno and Shaggy.
The accompanying music video was directed by Joseph Labisi and Michele Labisi.
The video is inspired by the 1989 film “Weekend at Bernie's” starring Jonathan Silverman and Terry Kiser, who appeared on the clip as cameos.
“After Shaggy and Rayvon closed out the Reggae edition of 'Pass The Mic' with 'Angel,' I was inspired to recreate that magic with a new anthem that would channel the spirit, energy, and emotion of their last prolific collaboration,” DJ Cassidy said of the song. “I had always dreamed of reinterpreting Rupert Holmes' summertime classic, and I knew then that Shaggy and Rayvon would be the perfect voices to bring that vision to reality.
