The Prototypes Drops New Song “Shadows” featuring Lily McKenzie
British drum and bass duo The Prototypes, consisting of Chris Garvey and Nick White, has unveiled a new song “Shadows”.
The track will appear on their upcoming sophomore album “Ten Thousand Feet & Rising”, which is set to be released on May 22nd.
The duo said, “A throwback to the Hardcore scene from the late 90s. With a piano line influenced by pivotal names through the history of the UK’s rave scene such as Vibes & Wishdokta, DJ Dougal, Slipmatt, and Nookie, to which we added a straight-up banger of a bassline”.
Also the song features London-based singer-songwriter Lily McKenzie. “It was a no brainer to get Lily down to record the vocal top line for the track, which we wrote together. It definitely brings those vibes to life,” the duo said.
The album comprises of 11-track and is their first LP in five years since their debut album “City of Gold”.
Chris Garvey told UKF, “This was the soonest it could come out really. We’ve been nonstop. We toured City Of Gold from 2015-16. Then we did a remix album and jumped straight into setting up our own label. That took up so much of our time. We’ve only released three singles during that time. We were in our own bubble, developing our artists and the label. We didn’t have the headspace to work on an album.”- source : UKF
