  • Veronica D'Souza Returns With New Song “Just Because a Crush”

  • Copenhagen-based singer-songwriter Veronica D'Souza, who is also known as the founder of fashion label CARCEL, returned with a new song “Just Because a Crush” on May 17, 2024.

The song is her first music in two years since the 2022 album “Songs From Home” released as Anne Veronica.
Also, the song is the first single off of her upcoming album, which is expected to be released in 2024.
The track was written produced by Veronica D'Souza.
This time, Veronica D'Souza closed down CARCEL due to Covid was a catalyst for her to find her voice again in a new way and teach herself how to produce music.

Veronica D'Souza shared on social media, “This is the first song from my next album. It's a big deal for me. I've been developing my production skills, so this album is composed, recorded and produced by me. And I feel humbly honored to collaborate with iconic Jorge Elbrecht on mix. Thank you for believing in me and being my teacher along the way.”
  • She continued, “Being an independent artist is very much a privilege - as you can do things your own way, at your own pace. But it requires a community of support. Thank you to everyone around me who have continued to believe in me and push me further and listened to the same track over and over again. I'm claiming a new title as producer, huge shoes to step into, but also so much fun and liberating. Learning new things is so beautiful and 'Life is not a chance to wait and see'. Hope you enjoy it.”

  • Veronica D'Souza told THE LINE of BEST FIT about the song, “I wrote this song to comfort myself and everyone who is battling with anxiety or fragile mental health. When life and the world is taking you through its turns, you can become scared and scarred. Embracing adulthood is to me about standing in your vulnerability and having the courage to take time, breathe and create connection through vulnerable meetings. And doing it with care and slow-paced.”

She added, “It is also a fighter song, to remind us, that despite challenges and bruises, we need to choose life and not let love pass us by. With climate change and wars being our global reality, it can be rough to be sensitive, and maybe, we need to allow for a new pace of careful connection where we can be with all we feel, and yet, still dare to lean into feeling loved.”
