Raye Zaragoza Returns With New Song “Fight Like A Girl”
American singer-songwriter Raye Zaragoza is back. She released her first single “Fight Like A Girl” in three years since “Fight for You”.
This time, she worked with a producer Tucker Martine and co-wrote the song with Johnny Black.
“After almost three years, I’ve finally released a new studio recording!!,” Raye Zaragoza said of the song on social media. “Fight Like A Girl” is a song for Intersectional feminism. A song honoring the unsung heroes of feminism who have been looked over because of their identities - whether indigenous, immigrant, trans, disabled or other. It’s a song honoring the women who came before us and gave us the privileges we have today. We are living in difficult, scary, and sometimes disempowering times. I hope you can dance around your quarantine (if you’re home) and feel some hope and empowerment today jamming out to this song!!”- She added, “I wrote this song back in late 2018 after fending off comments that I “play guitar like a girl.” At first offended by the comments, I decided to turn it around and take it as a compliment. Why can’t doing things “like a girl” be a compliment no matter your gender? It’s time we reclaim the term and use it as a term of empowerment rather than shame!”
