FLETCHER Releases New Song “girls girls girls”
- American singer-songwriter FLETCHER released her brand new song “girls girls girls” on October 8, 2021.
She teased the song on October 3rd. FLETCHER shared on social media, “hello bitches i am back”.
The song is the second single since the 2020 EP “The S(ex) Tapes”, following “Healing”.
The track sampled Katy Perry's No. 1 hit “I Kissed a Girl”, which was released from Katy's second album “One of the Boys” in 2008.
It was written by Maaike Kito Lebbing, Madison Love, Cari Fletcher, Jonas W. Karlsson, Mary Weitz, Katy Perry, Max Martin, Lukasz Gottwald and Catherine Dennis.
Produced by Kito and Jonas W. Karlsson.
FLETCHER said of the song, “I remember my mom was dropping me off at school one day in 2008 and ‘I Kissed a Girl’ came on the radio, and my mom kind of gasped at the lyrics. I had this moment in my head where I was like, ‘Fuck, I think I might like girls.’ In a lot of ways that song really marked the beginning of a lifelong journey of self-exploration and coming into my queerness and learning how to express my truth in a bold and unapologetic way. ‘girls girls girls’ is the freedom and the celebration I’ve been craving my whole life, and a way for me to share my own perspective and journey while honoring a song that empowered me to embark on it in the first place."
