N.E.R.D Releases New Album “No One Ever Really Dies” and New Song “Lifting You” Featuring Ed Sheeran
American funk rock band N.E.R.D released the fifth studio album "No One Ever Really Dies" on December 15, 2017. The album is their first LP in seven years since "Nothing".
The band has already released three songs "Lemon" with Rihanna, "1000" with Future and "Don't Don't Do It!" with Kendrick Lamar from the album.
In addtion, the band released another new song "Lifting You", which features British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. It was written by Pharrell Williams.
About the song, Pharrell Williams said, "People talk shit about you. You may not realize that when they’re talking about you, you must fucking matter. It occurred to us that when they say your name, they’re lifting you." On the same day, the group performed "Lemon" live on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
"No One Ever Really Dies" comprises 11-track, featuring guest appearances from artists Rihanna, Gucci Mane, Wale, Future, Kendrick Lamar, André 3000, M.I.A. and Ed Sheeran.
Last month, the band took place their first concert in 6 years at ComplexCon in Long Beach, Los Angeles, California. They performed the songs live from the new album.-
- N.E.R.D was formed by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo in 1999. Shay Haley joined in the same year, the duo and Shay Haley started as N.E.R.D.
In 2013, the band became hiatus, but the group reunited in 2014 to release the songs "Squeeze Me," "Patrick Star," and "Sandy Squirrel" for the film "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water".
About the band reunited, Pharrell Williams stated;
"It's kind of like one of those things where it just hits you when it hits you. I was just so happy to work with Chad [Hugo] and Shay again… This whole entire thing, we did with our eyes closed – not because we're that good, by any means – because if we would have had our eyes open, we would have gotten distracted by all the trends and all the stuff that was going on."
