Miley Cyrus Covers Yvonne Fair's “It Should Have Been Me” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to cover Yvonne Fair's “It Should Have Been Me” with the Roots.
The original version of the song was written by William "Mickey" Stevenson and Norman Whitfield for Kim Weston in 1963.
Yvonne Fair recorded the song in 1976. Her version reached No. 5 on the UK Singles chart.
On the show, Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson told Jimmy Fallon about their upcoming NBC New Year's Eve special, Miley's New Year's Eve Party.
She said as wanted an opportunity to reflect back on some of the good moments from 2021.
“Even though this year, this year and a half, has been hard, you find the things that were positive in the year before,” Miley Cyrus explained. “You're still going to look forward to what hasn't happened yet, but I think it's about honoring both sides of that. So I wanted to bring that approach.”
