Mike Taveira Teams Up With Allie X for New Song “Sex for Breakfast”
- Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Mike Taveira teamed up with Canadian singer-songwriter Allie X to release a new song “Sex for Breakfast”.
This marks the first collaboration between Mike Taveira and Allie X.
The song is the second single off of his upcoming debut EP “Cut Velvet”, following “Switch” released back in June.
It was written by Mike Taveira, Alexandra Hughes, Skyler Cocco and Paul Mauer. Produced by Skyler Cocco and Paul Mauer.
“'Sex for Breakfast' was one of those lightning-in-a-bottle songs,” Mike Taveira said of the new song. “The idea came to me after an intense morning with this guy I was head over heels for. We were essentially dating but kept pretending it was a fling. We ended up in this almost masochistic cat-and-mouse game, knowing we were so right together but both being too uncomfortable to admit it.”
The EP is expected to be released in early 2022.
He told PAPER Magazine about the EP, “The EP is a really diverse collection of my influences, all rooted in '70s sonics. I've got a punk funk track called "Switch" (which is already out, #justiceforswitch), a stadium rock ballad called "Comedown." Every track is tied together by a vintage Roland EP-30 a lover gifted to me.”
