Coldplay Premieres Two New Songs “Daddy” and “Champion Of The World”
- British rock band Coldplay's eighth studio album “Everyday Life” is out tomorrow (November 22).
From the album, the band premiered two new songs “Daddy” and “Champion Of The World”.
“Champion Of The World” paid tribute to Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit, who passed away on May 10, 2018 with struggling with depression.
The track is inspired by Owl John’s “Los Angeles, Be Kind”, which was released on August 14, 2014.
In a press release, Chris Martin explains, “Scott had a song called Los Angeles, Be Kind, which I love. When I first heard it, I thought it was going to go one way; but it went another. Anyway Champion Of The World is the song that came from following the other path, and that’s why Scott is a co-writer on this song. Today is also his birthday. So happy birthday Scott and Thank you for your beautiful music, wherever you are.”
“Daddy” is written how the father moved away from his son (interpreted by Chris Martin) and how the son longs to see his dad.
The song is accompanied by the music video directed by Åsa Lucander, who is London-based an illustrator and animator.
